Men's Health magazine says that Salt Lake City is the fittest city in the country, and Miami is the fattest.

2009: New Year, New You

The magazine's rankings, noted in a news release, put the Utah city at the top because of its park space, athletically motivated citizens and below-average obesity rates.

Hiking, basketball, yoga, swimming, running and kick boxing are all popular there.

Also, people there watch 23 percent less TV than the national average, the magazine says.

The mayor has also promoted bike commuting in the area.

The rest of the top 5 cities were Colorado Springs, Colo.; Minneapolis; Denver and Albuquerque.

Other factors in the rankings include sport stores, obesity rates, access to health care and air quality.

Miami was the fattest city, followed by Oklahoma City, San Antonio and Las Vegas.

The study looks only at the 50 largest cities in the country.
