BOSTON -- The type of knee surgery New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is likely facing requires months and months of recovery and rehabilitation.NewsCenter 5's Kelley Tuthill reported that New England Baptist Hospital Dr. Brian McKeon said the good news is that 90 percent of athletes who suffer this type of injury will come back to their competitive form.Brady suffered the injury during Sunday's game. The team announced Monday that he would need surgery and that Brady would be out for the rest of the season."It's a season-ending injury. Definitely," McKeon said. "You can really see how much the knee was (turned) and the force applied to it."McKeon said that the force of the hit can tear a person's MCL, and the ACL can pop. He said that Brady will probably have surgery in the next few weeks."Our surgery reconstructive techniques are so streamlined now and so simplified that there is a very predictable return -- 90 percent of all athletes return back to the same competitive level within six months to 18 months of their return from surgery," he said.
