BOSTON -- There are some questions about the safety of Fenway Park and the TD Banknorth Garden after reports surfaced indicating that Boston safety inspectors may not be doing enough to protect the tens of thousands of fans who pack the popular venues each game.NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that state law does not require that inspectors review the sporting venues such as the 96-year-old Fenway Park.Basically Boston's Inspectional Services Department gives the venues a once over, but three out of the last six years the one-page safety checklist for Fenway was left blank, according to the Boston Globe.Fenway and TD Bank North Garden must comply with city's fire and emergency codes so the fire department does conduct its own separate inspections, checking for emergency exits and sprinklers but not for structural problems. The Garden is only 13 years old but, just like Fenway, city inspectors left the checklist blank in three of the last six years.Red Sox officials said they have their own team of engineers who constantly monitor for structural problems at the old ball park.
