Tonya Dalhaus gained 30 pounds after a car accident, and wanted desperately to lose the weight. She signed up for a very public weight loss challenge. NewsCenter 5's Heather Unruh has the latest on her weight loss results.

“You started at 195.5 pounds. It’s great, so you lost 13.5 pounds,” said Jonathan Roosevelt, a nutrionist coach for My Healthy Fit, of Woburn.

Stand-up comic Tonya Dalhaus is making no jokes about what she has accomplished. She lost 3 percent of body fat during a 10-week weight loss challenge.

“The best part about this, I know this is weight that I’m never going to gain back again. I’ve lost it in such a healthy way,” Dalhaus said.

She lost the weight in front of the cameras for diet.com. Her ups and down have been posted on YouTube.

“It's certainly made me stay true to the process. It's really hard to cheat when you have to write everything down and you're doing it publicly and everybody is reading about it,” Dalhaus said.

Aside from the online support, she has been getting expert help from a nutritionist and personal trainer.

Her biggest struggle has been finding the time to eat.

“My problem was I wasn't eating enough calories to sustain my body. Everything that I ate was being stored into fat. I'm eating more than I have ever eaten in my entire life,” she said.

With the weight loss challenge over, Dalhaus is now focused on her long-term goal.

“I’m hoping my next spring to drop another pants size or two,” she said.

Meantime, she is already incorporating her experience into her stand-up routine.

“I started doing jokes about that. These guys googling me and immediately seeing my height, my weight and my age,” Dalhaus said.
