School vacation week is almost here, and if you're not going away, you're probably looking for some ways to keep children busy.

NewsCenter 5's Heather Unruh found some programs that will keep your kids active.

"We have no plans. It's kind of weather dependant," mother Sally Thomas said.

With kids on vacation soon, a lot of parents are feeling the same way right now. It's too cold for the park, so the question is: Where can we go to get the kids exercising?

Kids U, of Needham, is now enrolling 3 to 8 year olds in vacation camp. It has an indoor play space any young child would dream of. From the 2,000-square foot play area to the trampoline, kids will get the chance to explore everything at the center.

"We do time on our play quad, we have a wonderful arts and crafts, we go to our gym, we have a snack and we cook every day," Kids U spokeswoman Audrey Mard said.

The cooking classes encourage healthy eating habits. The fruit kabobs are a favorite on the menu. A group of preschoolers loved every bite.

If your kids are a little older, consider heading over to the YMCA. The West Suburban Y is offering a little bit of everything for all ages during vacation week.

"It's really group games that we're providing for everyone, like capture the flag games -- all the type of stuff you would see over the course of the summer," said Gregg Ellenberg, of West Suburban YMCA.

Kids have access to the entire facility, from the teen fitness center to the pool. Teenager Jerry Dwyer said that he spends his vacations at the facility.

"It's a great place to come if you want to run or lift weights or anything like that," Dwyer said.
