Hazards Include Birth Defects, Miscarriage

POSTED: 7:56 am EDT March 30, 2007

The Food and Drug Administration is issuing a warning against purchasing Accutane online, especially for pregnant women and girls.

Hazards from the acne treatment reportedly include birth defects, miscarriage, premature births and infant mortality.

The FDA also warns of possible side effects ranging from headaches to stroke.

Roche Holding, the maker of Accutane, supports the FDA warning, saying it should only be purchased through its legal distributor, I-pledge.
