December 9th-Poinsettia and Other Gifts

This time of the year no gift make a better symbol of the season than the pointsettia. This symbol of Christmas originates from Mexico and grows wild in that region. I treat these plants as a temporary gift in my home and discard them after a few weeks. Here is a great link that explains how to care for these wonderful plants. http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/poinsettia/care.html

There are also some great varieties that give you wonderful color and shape. I personally thinkg strawberries and cream is one of the best. http://darylrice.com/poinsettia.html

Christmas Cactii make a nice gift as well. They are easy to care for and come mostly in shades or red, white and pink. http://www.hort.purdue.edu/ext/cactusFAQs.html

Other gifts are anything by Felco. They make wonderful gifts and have the best pruners and saws and other tools. http://www.felcousa.com/

Other gift ideas are knee pads, gloves, water meters, and even deer proofing products. You could do something fun with the deer theme, Rudolf and the products.

If you can not decide, just get a gift certificate from a nursery near your family or friends and let them decide.
