December 2-Dish Gardens
When people entertain this time of year they often put the spread out on a big table and people can take the goodies they want throughout the party. The center of the table is a good place to create a dish garden. A dish garden is simply a large low dish or pot with selected plants and flowers placed in them. You can use greens around the garden to create a great look. When choosing plants look for smaller, low plants that will compliment the table and not overwhelm it. For this time of year using a poinsettia in the center is certainly a great way to create a Christmas look to your table. Adding Candles can also be a nice touch to change the mood from everyday to special. A couple of reminders. If the table is in the dark area of the room, move the garden to a sunny spot when not entertaining. Also, when you water, if the plants are just placed in the dish and not in dirt remove them so the water does not go all over the table. If its planted, be sure you have a bottom under the dish to catch any extra water. Happy Holidays. Dave
