If you've never seen "Boston Legal," you're missing what the critics have called some of the best acting and writing on television.

NewsCenter 5's Mary Saladna reported that David E. Kelley is the creator and chief writer. Emmy Award winning actors James Spader, William Shatner and Candice Bergen star in the show, which debuts on its new night Tuesday.

There's never a dull day at the firm if you're Allen Shore and Denny Crane. Now, both men are in trouble because five time Emmy winner Bergen has joined the cast.

"I'd seen the show, and I'd read the reviews of the show, and I said, 'Oh! What I wouldn't give to work with those two guys," Bergen said.

"She is a marvelous addition. She's a big stew bone in the bouillabaisse," Shatner said.

While Kelley's courtroom scenes have only gotten better since "The Practice," he plans to give "Boston Legal" a more comedic tone.

Julie Bowen joins the cast as smart and tough senior partner Denise Bauer. Look for lots of guest stars to spice up the plot lines. Heather Locklear will be the first. Don't be surprised if the show returns to Boston for some on-location shoots -- maybe even to Fenway Park.

"Boston Legal" premieres Tuesday at 10 p.m. on Channel 5, right after the premiere of "Commander in Chief," starring Geena Davis.
