CANTON, Mass. -- Singer Bobby Brown appeared in family court in Massachusetts again Wednesday.

NewsCenter 5's Pam Cross reported that Brown, who is married to singer Whitney Houston, was delivered by a hired sport utility vehicle. A warrant for his arrest had been out since June. He avoided arrest by appearing voluntarily.

"He was supposed to be at a funeral. We made an attempt by sitting there for four hours. He never showed up. Then I was told he was going to voluntarily surrender today, so that's why we are here," Constable Jerold Loomis said.

"Your excuse was unacceptable, and then to have it be two more months before you surrender. I don't relish the thought of having you in on regular reviews," Probate Court Judge Paula Carey said.

His ex-girlfriend, Kim Ward, the mother of his two teenage children, sued Brown to force him to continue paying court-ordered child support and fund an education plan. Brown is frequently delinquent, but officials said that he is now paid up through the end of the year.

"The college account will be fully funded by the end of November, and is three-quarter funded now. Child support is paid through the end of the year, so there have been some advance payments made," Ward's attorney Linda Medonia said.

"I had a stomach virus, so I just couldn’t be here. I didn't mean nothing by it," Brown said.

"Obviously, Bobby is working. His career is picking up. The show is doing great. He is touring now. Now, he has a viable income source, and so we are very happy things are working in our favor. We are very confident that the payments will be on time for the remainder of 2006 and 2005," Brown's attorney Phaedra Parks said.
