POSTED: 11:31 am EST January 4, 2005

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has joined the list of celebrities donating money to help victims of the South Asian tsunami, according to a televised report.

Access Hollywood reports that he has made a large donation to UNICEF.

DiCaprio has also set up a link on his official Web site for others wanting to donate to the organization.

The Thai island of Phi Phi Lei, where DiCaprio shot the 2000 thriller "The Beach," sustained massive damage from a tsunami.

Phi Phi Lei also served as the backdrop for the James Bond movie "The Man With the Golden Gun."

DiCaprio, who is currently starring in the lead in the Howard Hughes biopic "The Aviator," is active in many environmental issues, which is discussed in detail on his official site.

Actress Sandra Bullock is also one of the high-profile stars pitching in for tsunami relief. On Monday, she donated $1 million for the victims of the natural disaster.

According to "Access Hollywood," nearly 600 film and television projects have been shot over the years in the areas hit the hardest by the tsunami, including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Malaysia and Thailand.
