Professor Wrestling: 'Survivor Series' Recap

The Latest Calls From Our Ring Savant

POSTED: 9:05 am EST November 12, 2004

Listen Up! Class is in session!

Time for our "Survivor Series" recap, as we take a look at what happened Sunday night in Cleveland. Onward!

Spike Dudley Vs. Rey Mysterio Vs. Chavo Guerrero Vs. Billy Kidman for the WWE Cruiserweight championship
What should happen: I have not been a big fan of Spike as of late. I just don't buy this "Boss" thing, and the little guy is only entertaining when he is risking death. I say give it to Kidman, and let's have an ugly feud between Chavito and Kidman.

What will happen: Kidman steals a victory, with the rest of the Dudleys coming out to 3D the annoying little cuss.

What did happen: Spike wins in a whirlwind of confusion, pinning Chavo.

Lita Vs. Trish Stratus for the WWE Women's championship.
What should happen:Lita is not the worker she once was, with her skills about as dull as a Big Show promo. I say keep the belt on Stratus.

What will happen: Despite the loss of talent, Lita is still pretty over with the fans. Look for her to leave with a shiny new belt.

What did happen: Lita goes nuts, gets disqualified. Trish retains belt.

Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Maven and Chris Benoit Vs. Triple H, Batista, Snitsky and Edge in a classic 'Survivor Series' match. Each member on winning team controls 'RAW' for a week.
What should happen: The most compelling TV over the next few weeks would surely result from a heel victory in this one. The Prof., bored with Batista in the past, is coming around to thinking that he just might be the man. Ric Flair was right to say he is the future of WWE, and it's his time to shine -- along with Edge. This match could be a turning point in 'RAW's' future.

What will happen: A heel victory, with Batista being sole survivor. Do you REALLY want to see Maven as the GM for even a week? In fact, Maven and Snitsky should thank God they're even in this match.

What did happen: Orton is the sole survivor, as he single-handedly beat down the heels. Great. Looks like Maven will be booking himself a title match real soon.

Kurt Angle, Mark Jindrak, Luther Reigns and Carlito Caribbean Cool Vs. Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Big Show and John Cena in a classic 'Survivor Series' elimination match
What should happen: Carlito should end up the sole survivor in this one, after a series of mishaps eliminates the bigger names on both teams. The guy so far has not shown a lot of in-ring skill, but despite that and an unfortunate name, I love this jerk. He's so cheesy he works, so why not get him over huge and make him the next Honky Tonk Man – a silly heel who comes out of nowhere and blows up? Good stuff.

What will happen: Since I'm not writing the script, John Cena gets the pin for the win.

What did happen: I finally got one right. After an FU by Cena, Big Show covers for the win.

Christian Vs. Shelton Benjamin for the Intercontinental championship
What should happen: Christian should be served up like a juicy roast turkey. Shelton's hot, no reason to cool him off now.

What will happen: The champ retains. By the way, can't Christian and Edge get back together now that they're heels with mic skills? You don't see that much anymore … a legit tag team that can talk. The Road Warriors were probably the last of the great ones in that respect.

What did happen: Shelton wins, and if you ask me, he's so good he deserves to move into the heavyweight title picture after he's done with the IC belt.

Undertaker Vs. Heidenreich
What should happen:: While it's never made much sense to me, WWE loves to bring in a guy, build him up, then feed him to the Dead Man like so much lukewarm cranberry sauce. In the case of Heidenreich, maybe that makes more sense than usual.

What will happen: Tombstone. Adios Heiden-wretch. Also, why is the great Paul Heyman slumming with this storyline? Give the guy something to do!

What did happen: UT wins after delivering tombstone to HW.

JBL Vs. Booker T for the WWE championship
What should happen: It's been a long, and unlikely title run for one John Bradshaw. Who would have thought the guy who needed beer money would become this generation's Million Dollar Man? I have to admit, he proved me wrong, and it's been entertaining. But it's not time for a change just yet. Book will eventually get a title run ("WrestleMania 21," perhaps), but I wouldn't do it here.

What will happen: This one is too close to call, but I think the impatient Vince will have Booker T walk out with the gold.

What did happen: JBL retains with an assist from Orlando Jordan.

OK, by my calcuations, I went three for seven calling that card. Not to shabby, but I still like to bat more than .500. But as it should be pointed out, if I did that in the Major Leagues, I'd land a massive contract with the Yankees.

Now get out of here! Class dismissed!
