Along with political heavy-hitters, some big name Hollywood stars came to Boston for the Democratic National Convention, too.

NewsCenter 5's Mary Saladna reported that about 1,000 people, including several of Hollywood's finest, attended the Louis Boston convention party on Newbury Street that mixed politics and Hollywood to the beat of rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. All the money raised from the $1,000-a-head event will go to the Creative Coalition, a nonprofit organization that supports the arts, the First Amendment and the entertainment community.

The theme of the party was "Citrus Summer," and everything was decorated in lemon yellow and orange.

The menu featured all kinds of hip and elegant morsels -- from lobster lollipops to chocolate mousse cups to flavored cotton candy.

But the stars didn't just come to party and indulge -- they came to be heard.

"You know what I think? If people don't vote Democrat this time, in four years time, we won't be able to have events like this because any voice of dissent will be squashed," said actor Alan Cumming.

"I am not a big fan of our president and, well, for one thing, he has problems with words that have multiple syllables," said actor Jason Bateman.

But the stars had nothing but praise for Teresa Heinz Kerry.

"She is an amazing woman who comes through soulfully, she reaches you," said actor Jerry Stiller.

"I met her in L.A., she did a fund-raiser six months ago, and I thought, 'Wow, what a refreshing and original voice this is,'" said actor Wendie Malick.

There were also kind words for Boston.

"I have a really important place in my heart for Boston because my brother, who is my best friend, was conceived here -- a night of passion between my parents 21 years ago while I was doing the play 'Annie' here. I did the play 'Annie' here for five months," said actor Alyssa Milano.

Other stars still expected to attend the party include actors Ben Affleck and Billy Crystal.
