BOSTON -- Oscar-winning actor Matt Damon was in Boston this week to plug his new film and cheer on the Red Sox.
NewsCenter 5's Sonya Pfeiffer reported that Boston-native Damon stars in the new movie "The Bourne Supremacy," a follow-up to the 2002 blockbuster "The Bourne Identity."Damon has been quoted to say he did not like action movies.
"Action movies normally are like porn movies. You have these really kind of bad scenes with these poorly drawn characters, and then you get a little action, and then you get another bad scene and then you get a little action," said Damon. But Damon said the movies are different -- they're character driven, and the more the character develops, the better the movie gets. And "The Bourne Supremacy" has the added bonus of using some of the same actors and many of the same crew members as the first film."Kind of develop a shorthand, you know? You get a lot more work done, it is really a productive environment and you are working with friends," said Damon. And speaking of old friends, Damon took some time to weigh in some hometown topics, including the Red Sox."I was at the game last night. They looked incredible. They looked absolutely great and hopefully this is the start of a big run for them," he said. The star also weighed in on Sen. John Kerry's pick for vice president."Kerry and Edwards. They get my vote," he said. And, of course, July's Democratic National Convention."I figure why not show off our city, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I have traveled all around and it is such a beautiful city. It's nice to show it off a little bit," said Damon."The Bourne Supremacy" hits theatres July 23.
