BOSTON -- It's that time of year again to hit the toy stores! But with more than 150,000 toys to choose from, where do you start?
KB Toys' assistant manager Crystal McNeil said this year's best-selling toys range from traditional Barbie dolls to high-tech game products.
While Barbies are an all-time favorite for girls, the Bratz Dolls are topping the sales list this year, with their elaborate fashion items and variety of accessories.
"Beyblade (tops and accessories are) popular among boys, while the new Game Boy Advance SP is well-liked by both girls and boys," said McNeil.
According to a Toys R Us announcement on top picks for 2003, Cabbage Patch Kids, Barbies, and Bratz are the most popular dolls for girls, while Playstation 2 Eye Toy, Game Boy SP, and Video Now top the list for electronic games for boys and girls.
FAO Schwarz, another mega-toy store, says LEGO is very popular, as well as the Groovy Girls and the FAO Triplet Dolls.
The toy stores are already crowded with parents and children in search for the "perfect toy."
"There must be about thousands that come here every day," said Angeliqua Brown, a gift wrapper at FAO Schwarz. "It's going to be even more crowded after the Thanksgiving weekend."
"Many people wait for the sales after Thanksgiving holidays," said McNeil. "So, we're looking forward to more children, moms and dads to come in after this weekend."
