Celebrity Chatter: Who Are The Most Beautiful People?
Magazine Names Its Top Lookers
POSTED: 10:46 a.m. EDT May 6, 2003
Who is the most beautiful person on the planet? If you're People magazine you believe it's Halle Berry. Berry made the cover of the weekly for its 14th annual special issue, "The 50 Most Beautiful People in the World."
I wouldn't argue with People, Berry is pretty smashing. She can even make grown men make fools of themselves. (Remember Adrien Brody's crazy kiss during the Oscars?)
The Oscar-winning Berry made the list for the seventh time, joining all-time record holder Julia Roberts, who made her eighth appearance on the list.
As for male beauties, Ben Affleck, who graced last year's cover, made the list for the second time. Affleck says that after the prompting of his fiancée (you know who that is!), he has been trying to take better care of his body. He's no longer smoking and joins her on her morning workout sessions. J. Lo also, of course, was on the list.
"She's not one of those people who says, 'I look like this naturally.' She tends to herself," says her friend Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas. J. Lo's secret beauty regime is frequent facials and manicures, no junk food, coffee or alcohol and an exercise routine of circuit training and weight lifting. Wearing all that Dolce and Gabbana helps, too, I'd say.
Queen Latifah made the list and didn't mince words about getting the honor: "I feel beautiful, gorgeous, when I have hair and makeup and my wardrobe's tight, I'm like, 'Wow, girl, you look good."
The male beauties on the list say their just something about them that helped them achieve Beautiful status. "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest says it's his hair that got him votes. "It's strategically tousled. The flatiron is the key." He also believes his body didn't hurt his chances either. He works out five times a week, gets his eyebrows waxed, his skin buffed and his body soothed with regular massages and facials.
For "Saturday Night Live's" Tina Fey, her eyebrows helped her chances as well, although she says she'd prefer to pluck them herself rather than go Ryan's waxing route.
"For everything else I'm salon bound. I'm half Greek, so there's a fair amount of waxing that goes on," she said.
Ashton Kutcher, former Brittany Murphy boy toy and star of "That '70's Show," believes he made it based on his "natural" appeal. "I'm a guy's guy. I don't comb my hair unless I have to, and I don't use lotions or fancy shampoos."
Lisa Marie Presley, who also made the list, believes to be beautiful you don't need trendy, beauty routines. "I smoke, I don't do yoga, I don't meditate or do macrobiotics. I bite the hell out of my nails."
It probably doesn't hurt when you're the King Of Rock N' Roll's daughter and your mother is beauty Priscilla Presley.

The magazine hit newsstands last Friday.
Jolie has a few tattoos. A large dragon decorates her upper left arm and above it are the words 'Billy Bob,' the name of her estranged husband, Billy Bob Thornton.
Jolie is spending most of her time in the English countryside filming the movie "World Of Tomorrow" with Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Jolie's next big movie release is the sequel to "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider." It arrives in theaters this summer.

Back In The Public Eye
Speaking of beauties, after a hiatus on her Hailey, Idaho, farm bringing up three daughters, Demi Moore is stepping out. It's no coincidence that's she starting to make appearances, no doubt in preparation for the big public relations push that will happen for "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" for its July opening amid a flurry of summer movies. Moore was spotted in New York at the opening night performance of "Salome." She was wearing a glittering low-cut sequined gown as she stretched a long leg out of a limousine. The 40-year-old actress, whose real name is Demetria Guynes, was tan and toned, according to reports. Hello Magazine reported that ex-hubby Bruce Willis has nothing but high hopes and kind words for the actress and her comeback. "I think it's fantastic. She's a babe."Madonna Goes Bye-Bye
The Material Girl had some fans disappointed during a small concert and an autograph signing session April 23 at a Tower Records store in New York. Pitching her new album "American Life," tons of fans who received their necessary wristbands to see the concert and get their discs signed, were left without Madonna's John Hancock. Seems she tired of signing midstream and left, according to the Village Voice.Tattoo You
Angelina Jolie was a prominent figure at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Festival this weekend, cozying up to Bob (not Billy Bob), while sporting a new tattoo. She had the black tattoo, featuring five vertical rows of ancient Khmer script, applied in Bangkok by tattoo master Noo Kamphai. It's large and on her left shoulder. She said she could definitely "feel" the 15-minute application done with a traditional needle. Noo said the tattoo will help Jolie ward off bad luck and help her avoid accidents. "I like it (the tattoo) a lot. It looks very sacred," she said.
