BOSTON -- The half brother of comedian Dane Cook was accused Wednesday of stealing millions of dollars from Cook and transferring them to his personal accounts.
Comedian Cook's Manager Accused Of EmbezzlementNewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported Wednesday that officials said Darryl McCauley, 43, stole millions of dollars from Cook's business accounts while McCauley was working as Cook's manager. After he arraignment, McCauley was held on $3 million bail.Prosecutors said that he may have stolen up to $10 million. Officials said that McCauley stole the money between July 2007 and December 2008, and in one instance he allegedly forged a $3 million check from Cook's account.McCauley is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on Jan. 15.Cook, 36, was born in Boston and raised in Arlington, Mass. He got his start in his teens on the college and comedy club circuits.After releasing three comedy albums and winning numerous comedy awards he launched a film career, starring in such hits as "Good Luck Chuck," and "Dan In Real Life," as well as "Employee of the Month," and "My Best Friend's Girl."
