Kenny Chesney sings about the end of his marriage to Renee Zellweger on his new album "Lucky Old Sun."

Chesney told USA Today that his song "Way Down Here" tells how he escaped to the Caribbean where "no one will ask, cause nobody knows you're not in my life anymore."

The country music star and Zellweger were married in May 2005 in the Caribbean. The marriage was annulled seven months later.

He said that the songs "Spirit of a Storm" and "I'm Alive" are about the emotional toll the breakup caused him.

Chesney said writing "I'm Alive" was "a release." After that, he said, he felt better than he had in a long time.
