BOSTON -- The public may not always think of attorneys as a particularly fun-loving bunch, although the hit television series "Boston Legal" has imparted a bit of glamour to local barristers.

Now, however, Boston lawyers are showing off their star power with their own calendar, the 2009 Beautiful Lawyers Calendar.

The people behind the project said it's fun and full of high quality photography and fascinating stories, intended to show the relaxed side of Massachusetts lawyers.

The goal is to lighten up the image of Hub lawyers a bit and help out a few charities such as the MSPCA, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Rosie's Place, the United Way and the American Cancer Society, all of which receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the calendar.

The charities are selected by the attorneys chosen for the calendar.

The attorneys who are featured in the calendar were nominated by colleagues, spouses, friends and other lawyers and then 12 finalists were selected to appear in the calendar.

The six men and six women were selected from the regions' top firms, private industry and government.
