USS Bataan Arrives In Boston

Ship Celebrating City's Navy Week

USS Bataan docked at Massport’s North Jetty in South Boston’s Marine Industrial Park on Tuesday to participate in Boston’s 4th Annual Navy Week and 27th Annual Harborfest celebration.

With more than 1,200 sailors aboard, the USS Bataan is a WASP-class ship and the second U.S. Navy vessel to bear the name. The ship is 844 feet-long and displaces more than 42,000 tons when fully loaded with Marines and equipments. The Bataan’s home port is Norfolk, Va.

The ship will offer free public tours from Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour will be on a first-come, first-served basis. All visitors are urged to take public transportation.
