As if it isn't enough that their beloved team won the 2007 World Series, Sox fans now have another distinction to boast about.

A former Massachusetts resident and true-blue member of Red Sox Nation has earned the distinction of being named People Magazine's "Sexiest Fan Alive."

Chris Piela, a husband and father who works in the insurance industry, was nominated for the title by his wife, Kristine, the Boston Herald reported.

More than 2,000 candidates vied for the title and more than 300,000 people voted on the finalists.

Piela, who recently moved to Georgia, will be featured in the magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" issue which is due to hit newsstands on Friday. He said it was a "riot" winning and he and his wife may now be going to the 2008 World Series courtesy of Major League Baseball.
