A psychiatrist who was repeatedly stabbed by a patient at her office near Massachusetts General Hospital last month was released from the hospital on Monday. Her husband said she was eager to get back to work.

Dr. Astrid Desrosiers was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds on Oct. 27 after her patient, Jay Carciero, went on a rampage inside her office building on Staniford Street. When she returned home, she had bandages on her arms and her husband said she was not able to speak very well.

"Well the one good thing she said is she is happy to be coming back home and has been thinking about her patients," Claude Desrosiers said. "She also mentioned that she appreciated all the great things that the people at the Mass General has done, the whole team."

Carciero was shot by off-duty security guard Paul Langone, who rushed to Desrosier's aide. The 37-year-old father of four died following the shooting.

On Sunday, neighbors raked her lawn and delivered flowers and balloons to welcome her home.

"She mentioned about all the prayers that the whole world has been doing for her and she is very glad that everybody is praying and she is glad to be home," Claude Desrosiers said.
