BOSTON -- Security at Logan International Airport is in the spotlight after a passenger sounded an alarm, saying airport staff and other passengers failed to follow a simple but important rule recently. Karen Millett said she accidentally forgot her bag at Terminal A's taxi stand two weeks ago when she returned from a trip and she was shocked that her unattended luggage sat on the pavement for more than an hour and no one noticed. Karen said she left her pink and black polka-dot bag bag when hopping a taxi from Logan to her home in Reading two weeks ago. When she realized her mistake, she unsuccessfully tried to reach State Police and the taxi dispatcher. Afraid that the terminal would be shut down because of her mistake, she drove back to the airport and found her bag in the same spot she had left it an hour and a half before. Millett has written letters to Gov. Deval Patrick and Sen. John Kerry about what she sees as a significant security lapse. She has since been contacted by MassPort. Massport said it was only just recently notified of the issue and reminds everyone to be aware of their surroundings. Unattended bags should always be reported.
