2008 BOSTON -- A nurse was accused of trying to smuggle a saw into an inmate at MCI-Cedar Junction in Walpole to aid an alleged plot to escape.Deborah Girouard, 44, of Ashby, a contract nurse, was arrested on Tuesday and accused of trying to bring saw blades and other items to inmate Che Sosa. She was held overnight at the Foxborough Barracks of the Massachusetts State Police and will be arraigned on charges that include delivering an article to an inmate and aiding the escape of a prisoner.Sosa, to whom the saw blades and other items were allegedly smuggled, has not been charged in the scheme at this time."Sosa is accused and convicted of serious, violent crimes and the public should be re-assured that this elaborate scheme has been foiled," Norfolk County District Attorney William Keating said.In March 2007, Sosa allegedly stabbed his own lawyer with a makeshift knife during his rape trial. Officials said he used the weapon to stab his attorney, John Courtney, who suffered a gash to his nose and a puncture wound.Sosa was already serving a 55-year sentence for rape when he was sentenced to two additional 35- to 40-year sentences after being found guilty of repeatedly raping a 50-year-old woman in her home.Girouard is scheduled be arraigned at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Wrentham District Court.
