UPDATED: 4:07 pm EST January 7, 2010

Joanne Peterson didn't want to become an expert on OxyContin and heroin. But when her son became addicted, she got up to speed fast in order to help him. And now she's helping other parents come to grips with an epidemic of opioid abuse in places that don't fit the stereotypes of drug abuse. Tonight Anthony Everett reports on the alarming trend, and he sees how one city, Brockton, is trying to turn the tide.
