Tuesday, June 23: Farm Fresh

A Crop of Successful Baystate Farmers

POSTED: 4:55 pm EDT June 17, 2009
UPDATED: 1:11 pm EDT June 23, 2009

Once just a fledgling slogan, today "buy local" describes a popular and growing movement. Tonight, we discover a number of farms that are truly making it in Massachusetts and look at their many secrets for success. One farm sells seasonal produce shares and delivers by bicycle messenger, another cuts costs by letting patrons pick their own, and another has become the go to place for the herbs coveted by top restaurants in Boston and Providence. And if you've ever fantasized about becoming a farmer, watch Mary Richardson give it a shot.
