In 1986, the world learned the name of an obscure nuclear power plant in the Soviet Union, when an accident at the Chernobyl reactor sent radioactive fallout spewing across Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine. Among those touched by the radiation: a 3-year old boy named Alosha, who was living in grim circumstances in a Belarus orphanage. Tonight, Mary Richardson tells the amazing story of how Alosha found a new life in America, thanks to the selfless acts of many Bostonians.
