Birmingham, AL -- The Southwestern Athletic Conference on Thursday suspended nine members of the Grambling State football team and eight players from Prairie View for one game apiece for their actions during a post-game fight last Saturday.

One assistant coach from each team was also suspended for their misconduct during the altercation, and both head coaches will be reprimanded and fined "for not showing the proper restraint in their conduct during the fight," the league said.

All 19 suspensions are for one game apiece and will be enforced this Saturday when Grambling State plays Mississippi Valley State and Prairie View takes on Alcorn State.
