Lake Charles, LA -- (Sports Network) - Saturday's Football Championship Subdivision matchup between McNeese State and Cal Poly has been cancelled due to the expected arrival of Hurricane Ike in the Gulf Coast region.

"This decision was made in the interest of safety for our fans," McNeese State president Robert Hebert said.

The university closed at noon Thursday and will re-open on Monday.

Cal Poly, now with just 10 games on its schedule, is pursuing efforts to schedule another opponent for September 27 or October 11.
