GAME NOTES: This afternoon the Brown Bears will host the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a non-conference battle at the Pizzitola Center. The Eagles opened their season with an amazing 71-point win over Marygrove, but since then it has been all downhill for EMU. Coach Charles Ramsey's squad heads into this matchup in the midst of a five-game losing skid, and the most recent setback was a 67-54 loss to Cornell. EMU, which posted an atrocious 3-11 mark away from home this past season, has dropped all three of its road matchups this year. As for the Bears, they opened the new year with two straight losses, but since then the team has regrouped, winning two of its last three contests. The last time Brown was on the floor the team collected its second victory, defeating Army, 80-73. After this meeting with EMU, the Bears will be on the road for five of their next seven contests. Last year these two teams collided on the hardwood for the first time, and it was the Bears who outlasted EMU in Ypsilanti, 74-55.

The Eagles poured in 119 points in their season-opening victory, but since then the team has not topped 61 points in any of its last five games, which would explain why EMU is averaging just 66.5 ppg. Brandon Bowdry has done everything for the Eagles, leading the team with 14.5 ppg and 7.3 rpg. However, the forward also had a team-high 26 turnovers thus far. Justin Dobbins is the only other player producing double figures, as the forward is netting 11.7 ppg to go along with 4.8 rpg. Eastern Michigan's inability to produce points continued in the loss to Cornell, as the Eagles totaled just 54 points. Bowdry and Branden Harrison both scored 11 points in the loss, while Dobbins struggled, finishing with just two points.

The Bears might be shooting a strong 48.2 percent from the field on the season, but that has led to a mere 66.4 ppg. Peter Sullivan has been the top option for Brown thus far, as the guard is leading the team with 16.2 ppg and 6.4 rpg. Matt Mullery has been a tremendous asset in the paint as well, as the center is posting 15.6 ppg, while pulling down 5.2 caroms per contest. Adrian Williams is contributing 13.0 ppg, while Chris Skrelja is netting 10.0 ppg to go along with a team-best 18 assists. In the team's recent matchup against Army, the Bears put forth a strong effort, shooting 54.2 percent from the floor, while also connecting on 10-of-20 attempts from behind the arc. Sullivan poured in 26 points in the win, and also pulled down eight boards. Mullery added 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and five blocks, while Skrelja posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 helpers.

Take away the Eagles' first game and they have been downright awful. There is no reason to think EMU can turn things around any time soon, and with the Bears coming off a strong win, they are ready to ride the momentum to victory.

Predicted Outcome

Brown 71, Eastern Michigan 60
