Chestnut Hill, MA -- (Sports Network) - Ryan Houston scored two rushing touchdowns to lead the North Carolina Tar Heels to a 31-13 victory over the Boston College Eagles in an ACC tussle at Alumni Stadium. Houston only finished with 45 rushing yards for UNC (8-3, 4-3 ACC), while T.J. Yates threw for 182 yards on 23-of-34 efficiency. Dave Shinskie threw a touchdown for Boston College (7-4, 4-3), but other than that the quarterback had a horrible showing, completing just 12-of-28 passes for 101 yards and also tossed four interceptions. The Tar Heels exploded out of the gate in this contest, scoring 21 first quarter points, beginning with a one-yard touchdown run by Houston. Less than two minutes later the defense pushed UNC's lead to 14-0 as Cam Thomas return a fumble 20 yards for a score. The defense struck once again, this time it was a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown by Kendric Burney. The Eagles finally found the scoreboard in the last minute of the opening frame, as Steve Aponavicius connected on a 28-yard field goal. Aponavicius added 20-yard kick early in the second quarter, and Boston College then cut its deficit to 21-13 right before halftime when Shinskie connected with Rich Gunnell for a two-yard score. The Tar Heels pushed their lead to 28-13 late in the fourth quarter when Houston plunged into the end zone on a one-yard run. For good measure the Tar Heels added a 29-yard field goal by Casey Barth to seal the victory.
