NCAA Game Summary - Kentucky At Creighton

POSTED: 9:57 pm EDT March 23, 2009

(Sports Network) - Jodie Meeks converted a three-point play with 10.6 seconds remaining to lift the Kentucky Wildcats to a 65-63 victory over the Creighton Bluejays in the second round of the NIT.

Meeks scored 16 points for fourth-seeded Kentucky (22-13), which advances to the quarterfinal round to take on second-seeded Notre Dame. Perry Stevenson posted 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats, who got 12 points from Patrick Patterson.

Booker Woodfox tallied a game-high 18 points in defeat for top-seeded Creighton (27-8). The Bluejays also got 12 points from Kenny Lawson and 14 rebounds from Justin Carter.

Kentucky trailed 33-31 at intermission and were just 3-9 heading into the contest when trailing at the break.

The Wildcats caught a break in the final minute when Carter missed a pair of free throws for the Bluejays. After Meeks put his squad ahead, Woodfox misfired on a three-pointer in the closing seconds that would have won the game for Creighton.

Patterson became the 10th fastest player in Kentucky program history to score 1,000 career points.
