Running The Marathon? Send Us Your Picture!

The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annually contested marathon, attracting runners from around the world.

But only a handful of runners are classified as elite athletes. The thousands of other runners are regular people running for the thrill and the challenge of competing in one of the world's most celebrated races.

Most of these runners will not get the chance to be featured in the news, or on television broadcasts of the April 17th event.

But as thousands of runners get ready to lace up for the big event, NewsCenter 5 and TheBostonChannel.com want to show pictures of registered runners who are competing in the race.

Friends and relatives can log on to our special Marathon page to see your picture, and your photo may be shown on NewsCenter 5 during live coverage of the race.

We'd prefer that you send a photo that shows you clearly in the picture and close-ups are best. They will show up more clearly on the Web site and on the air.

Just send your photos to:

Please be sure to include your name, age, town you're from, and how many times you've run the Boston Marathon. We'd also like to know what motivated you to run the race.

Please make sure to save a copy of your picture. The BostonChannel.com will be keeping all those great shots you send in. TheBostonChannel cannot verify the ownership of the photos submitted to this slideshow. If you have questions or concerns, please send us a note at wcvbwebstaff@thebostonchannel.com
