2009 BOSTON -- A Hyannis man with an “extensive history” of operating boats under the influence of alcohol was arrested on Saturday night after police said he piloted his boat into a fireworks launching area while drunk.Jeffrey A. Daluz, 53, was arrested by two officers from the Division of Natural Resources shortly before a fireworks display over Lewis Bay in West Yarmouth. Police said Daluz steered a 22-foot boat into a restricted security zone around the launching area at about 7:50 p.m.Daluz’s license was already permanently revoked by a Massachusetts court after he was convicted five times for operating under the influence of alcohol. He now will now face the highest OUI charge recognized in Massachusetts.Daluz was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. He will be arraigned Monday in Barnstable District Court.His boat, a center-console Aqua Sport, was seized by Yarmouth Police Headquarters pending forfeiture proceedings.
