Driver, 83, Pins Store Clerk In Crash

Natick Police Investigate Crash

BOSTON -- An 83-year-old woman rammed her car through the front of a Natick liquor store on Friday morning, injuring herself and pinning a clerk against the counter, police said.

Witnesses told NewsCenter 5 it appeared the woman was trying to park when her car smashed through the plate-glass window at the front of the store.

A 51-year-old cashier suffered head and chest injuries after she was pinned against the counter by the car. The driver was also hospitalized with chest injuries. Both are expected to recover, said Deputy Fire Chief Mike Flattery.

Police were still trying to determine what caused the crash, which occurred at about 10:30 a.m. at Fannon’s Liquors at 212 North Main St. The woman told fire officials that she does not remember how her car, an older-model Mustang Convertible, plowed into the building.

No other injuries were reported following the incident, but the store was heavily damaged, police said.

Police were investigating at the scene of the crash.
