In February 1935, the first comic book of all–original material was sold in the United States. It was called New Fun comics, published by the company that would eventually become DC Comics. They're the publishers of worldwide icons Superman and Batman, among others.

Since 1935, the comic book has blossomed into a pure American art form, and today serve as storyboards for TV and movie executives everywhere.
