If you or someone you love bought a sport utility vehicle recently, the government has some good news for you.

The agency in charge of measuring auto safety said that 2006 SUVs are more secure in rollover accidents than earlier models.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released its annual rollover rankings Tuesday.

For 2006 model SUVs, the Chevrolet HHR, Chrysler Pacifica, and Ford Freestyle were the safest.

The study says the HHR has a 14 percent chance of flipping if involved in a single-vehicle crash and the Pacifica and Freestyle, 13 percent.

The lowest-rated SUV was the Nissan XTerra 4 x 4.

The Honda Ridgeline 4 x 4 and the Toyota Tacoma were the highest rated pickup trucks, the Kia Sedona was the safest van, and for passenger vehicles, the Pontiac G-6 earned 5 stars.
