A Massachusetts mom created a Web site where kids can write their own bestsellers, publish and share them with the world.

NewsCenter 5's Bianca de la Garza reported Thursday that Leia Kan has already published nine books. Lexington mom Sharon Kan launched the Web site after scanning bookshelves.

"I just realized all the books are written and illustrated by adults," Kan said.

She had the idea that children write a story, upload their illustrations, print a copy and publish it to the online community Tikatok.

The Web site offers some guidelines for children to build their own stories.

George Herlihy's book is about baseball. Sabrina Liberatore's book is about a princess and a fairy.

"I made some with my grandmother before, and it was fun except it was just a picture book," Sabrina said.

Sisters Jaime and Hailey Cortina said that they love the experience, but they say the classics will always have a place.

"There's room for both. Kids could write a book. It could become so famous just like adult books," Jaime said.
