Wollaston, White Horse Beaches Have High Bacteria Counts

BOSTON -- Wollaston Beach in Quincy and a section of White Horse Beach in Manomet have tested positive for high bacteria levels.
Bay Staters Keep Cool During Scorcher A bacteria warning was posted at White Horse Beach for the first time in three years and only the second time since 2003. It had a bacteria count of 3,000, nearly 30 times the limit of 104 that is considered safe for saltwater swimming, the Patriot Ledger reported.Two sections of Wollaston Beach were also above the limit, and warning signs were posted for the entire beach. Warning signs were also posted at Edgewater Beach in Quincy, which had a 113 count, the paper reported.The tests were conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday.
