BOSTON -- The New England Patriots engineered a draft day shocker by trading for controversial wide receiver Randy Moss from the Oakland Raiders for a fourth-round draft choice.

Moss was disgruntled for most of his two seasons in Oakland, and said frequently last season he thought he'd be better off with another team. He wanted to be dealt either to New England or Green Bay and got his wish.

"We felt this was the best scenario for both the Raiders and Randy," Oakland coach Lane Kiffin told The Associated Press. "We wish him nothing but the best."

With the Patriots, Moss will be teamed with three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady, who now has plenty of talented receivers to throw to on offense.

New England already added three other wide receivers this off-season: Wes Welker in a trade with Miami, and Donte' Stallworth and Kelley Washington as free agents.

NFL.com., the official league Web site, reported that Moss passed his physical after arriving in New England Sunday.

The NFL site reported that Moss agreed to restructure his contract, which is scheduled to pay him $9.75 million this coming season.

In addition, "the Patriots have notified Moss that under no circumstance will they tolerate any of the transgressions that have marked his career. The first controversial incident that Moss is involved in will be his last. The Patriots insist they will release him," said the article on NFL.com.
