BOSTON -- We've seen all sorts of pinup calendars in recent years that raise money for an array of different causes. So why not a calendar where the money raised will benefit people with vision problems?NewsCenter 5's Heather Unruh reported Friday that at first glance the calendar is all about buff biceps and bright smiles. But it is more than meets the eye."It's not about all beefy guys. It's not about all doctors. It's really about all types of guys all out for a good cause who all believe in what we're doing," Suzi Reynolds said.Reynolds came up with the idea for the "Guys For Eyes" calendar three years ago to increase awareness about vision problems. It was inspired by her mother's battle with macular degeneration -- a disease that took away her central vision."I see her struggle with everyday activities and trying to keep her independence, and it's just so frustrating to figure out what to do," Reynolds said.Money raised from the calendars goes toward eye disease research at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. Selling the calendars is the easy part. Finding the models can be tricky."It's a little coercion. I have some help," she said. She received help from her husband, who is Mr. June this year. Mr. January is car czar Ernie Boch Jr. The other months feature firefighters, businessmen and doctors.Aaron Fay is Mr. October, but to the folks at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, he is ophthalmologist Dr. Fay. His colleague is Mr. May."A few of my buddies in the hospital have made a lot of jokes," Fay said.Despite the jabs here and there, Fay said that he is honored to be a part of this very serious cause."I think it's all in good fun. I've been taking a little ribbing from my colleagues here, but that's worth it. It's a meaningful contribution," Fay said.
